11 May: Usain Bolt has been declared fit to take part in a Manchester street run on 17 May. The triple Olympic gold medalist was involved in a car crash on 29 April and had to have thorns removed from his left foot, sustained when he escaped from his wrecked BMW. The 22-year-old Jamaican returned to light training on 8 May. In Beijing last August he stormed to victory in world record times in both the 100m and 200m sprints and won his third gold medal as part of Jamaica's successful 4x100m relay team.
