10 May 2011: The Samsung Diamond League got off to another year of top class world athletics with 14 events taking place in the next five months, beginning in Doha and ending in Brussels. Early season form is still lacking as five of the seven Diamond Trophy winners from last year failed to register a win in Doha on the 6^th.of May. Nevertheless, Alyson Felix winner of two Diamond Trophies last year for 200 and 400 metres stamped her authority on the 400 metres by edging out the Commonwealth Champion Amantle Montsho of Botswana with a time of 50.33 seconds. Walter Dix of the USA laid down the gauntlet  to rivals Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay by clocking a fast 200 metres in a time of 20.06 seconds. Usain Bolt is unlikely to be involved in the Daimond League events prior to the Rome event on May 26.
