05 July: Esther Vergeer and Korie Homan won the inaugural women's wheelchair doubles event at Wimbledon on Sunday. Vergeer is the world number one in singles with an unbeaten run going back over 350 matches. She teamed up with world number two Homan to become a dynamic team and the Dutch pair has now added Wimbledon to their Australian and French Open titles. The men's wheelchair competition was won by the French pair of Stephane Houdet and Michael Jeremiasz.
