June World Cup qualifiers round-up
football08 June:  Mexico's dismal start to the qualification campaign continued on Saturday with a 2-1 defeat to El Salvador.  Meanwhile their main rivals in the North, Central America and Caribbean group both won, the USA defeating Honduras 2-1 and Costa Rica winning 3-2 in Trinidad and Tobago.  In African there were wins for Gabon, Tunisia and Ghana while Nigeria recorded a welcome 3-0 win over Kenya after only drawing their first game away in Mozambique.  In Europe wins by England (4-0 over Kazakhstan), Denmark (1-0 in Sweden) and Netherlands (2-1 in Iceland) maintained their top positions in their respective groups.
