USA stun Spain to reach Confederations Cup final
football24 June: The United States caused one of the biggest upsets in world football in recent years by beating Spain 2-0 in the semi-final of the Confederations Cup.  Goals from Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey either side of the break consigned the European champions to their first defeat in 35 matches.  The USA had looked down and out earlier in the tournament after losing 3-1 to Italy and 3-0 to Brazil before storming back to qualify for the semi-finals by beating Egypt 3-0.  Even then they relied on Brazil beating world champions Italy 3-0 to ensure they would progress.  The USA will now meet Brazil or hosts South Africa in Sunday's final.
