What do you get for £80m?

football20 July:  What does £80m buy a football club today?  Cristiano Ronaldo's well-documented move to Real Madrid was seen by many as shrewd business by Manchester United but few clubs have the huge resources of the Spanish giants.  United's local rivals Manchester City have seemingly unlimited resources, backed by their owners, the Abu Dhabi United group.  Over the past few weeks City have invested the same amount of money that Real Madrid paid for Ronaldo in four new players.  First they bought England midfielder Gareth Barry from Aston Villa for £12m.  Then they secured the services of Paraguay international Roque Santa Cruz from manager Mark Hughes' former club, Blackburn Rovers.  Then they paid £25m for the registration of signed Argentine star Carlos Tevez, who had spent the previous two years on loan at United.  The most recent signing is Togo striker, Emmanuel Adebayor from Arsenal in a £25m deal.  So which club has got the better value for its £80m?  Ronaldo is a brilliant player capable of lighting up any crowd but in my view, City have spent wisely to bring a midfielder and three strikers into their squad.  Their problem last season was in defence and they need to invest in that area if they have serious ambitions to challenge the Big Four.  They are still persuing Chelsea's captain John Terry, whom the Stamford Bridge club are adamant is not for sale at any price.  But as we have seen with Ronaldo, money talks and it will be interesting to see if a monster bid from City will change Chelsea's response.

Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
