FA Cup Final - will the Spenders outclass The Potters?

10 May 2011: footballHas the high spending Manchester City FC got the FA Cup all tied up this coming Saturday (May 14)? From humble church beginnings in 1880 as St. Mark’s (West Gorton) Football Club to spending over £ 450 million in the past three seasons on players, you may well think that all the best players in the world have been drawn into the Manchester club. But this prestigious competition with a viewing audience in excess of 400 million is likely to bring out the best in those deemed to have little chance. Talk to any Stoke City supporter and they will assure you that in spite of never having been in an FA Cup final match they have the grit to confound the pundits - the 5 - 0 drubbing given to Bolton in the Wembley semi-final recently is proof.  Stoke City’s manager, Tony Pulis experience at Wembley Stadium as manager goes back to the Gillingham side of 1999 confronting Manchester City in the play-off for the League One title. On that occasion Manchester City’s famous comeback took the title on penalties. Is The Potters win against Arsenal last week a further omen for the oldest club in the Premier League?
