Argentina's World Cup dreams knocked back

footballArgentina’s 2010 World Cup qualification dreams were knocked back with a 6-1 hammering by Bolivia on 1 April.  Just four days after crushing Venezuela 4-0, Diego Maradona’s side suffered in the 3,600m altitude in La Paz.  It was Argentina’s heaviest defeat for over 60 years.  To compound an unhappy night for the visitors, substitute Angel di Maria was sent off seven minutes from time.  Meanwhile in Porto Alegre, Brazil moved up to second in the South America table with a 3-0 win over bottom side, Peru.  Table-toppers Paraguay were held to a 1-1 draw by Ecuador in Quito.  Elsewhere, world champions Italy struggled to a 1-1 draw with the Republic of Ireland while European champions Spain left it late to win 2-1 in Turkey, thanks to a goal 4 minutes into injury time from Liverpool midfielder Albert Riera.

Argentina progress in FIFA qualification bid
footballArgentina progressed in their FIFA World Cup™ qualification bid with a comprehensive 4-0 over Venezuela on 28 March.  Coach and home-country hero Diego Maradona was vindicated for playing three short strikers as each scored a goal.  The trio of Carlos Tevez, Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero have an average height of just 1.7 metres but this was no problem for the home side who emerged comfortable winners.  Paraguay lead the South America qualifying group after 11 games with 23 points, followed by Argentina and Chile on 19 points with Brazil in fourth place with 18 points.  The top four qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ with the fifth team entering a home and away play-off against the fourth team from the North, Central America and Caribbean group.

Beckham to stay at AC Milan until end of season
footballFormer England captain David Beckham will stay at AC Milan until the end of the season.  The 33-year-old Los Angeles Galaxy player has made a big impression with the Serie A side after joining on loan in January, scoring two goals in nine Serie A matches.  He is now keen to make the move permanent after originally joining Milan to stay fit during the Major League Soccer off-season.  Under the original deal Beckham was due to return to Galaxy on 9 March but after protracted negotiations the MLS club have now agreed to let him to stay with Milan until the end of the season.  Beckham will return to the US in July with his first game back set to be at New York Red Bulls on 18 July.  He will then return to Milan in November before returning to Galaxy in July 2010.

The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
