| Southwell joins exodus to France |
29 April: Edinburgh and Scotland full-back Hugo Southwell has signed for Stade Francais, joining the exodus of British players to French clubs. The 28-year-old has agreed a two-year term and joins international team-mate Simon Taylor at the club. Southwell started the 2009 Six Nations as Scotland's first choice full back but later lost out to Chris Patterson. His move after six years at Edinburgh is the latest in a long list of departures from British rugby for the game in France. Four England internationals including 2003 World Cup winner Steve Thompson are already playing top flight rugby in France while other stars such as Rikki Flutey and James Haskell have signed to play there from next season.
