| Wins for Springboks and All Blacks |
20 June: New Zealand overcame France 14-10 in Wellington to level the series 1-1. Ma'a Nonu settled All Blacks nerves in the first half after France's historic 27-22 win a week earlier in Dunedin before Cedric Haydens surged over in the second half but the All Blacks held out for the victory. Meanwhile in Durban the Springboks had to cling on for victory against the British and Irish Lions. After taking a 19-7 half-time lead, two second half tries from the Lions pegged back the reigning world champions but the home side did enough to cling on, much as the All Blacks did in Wellington against the French, and emerged victors by 26-21.
