| Rugby World Cup 2011 matches re-scheduled |
20 April 2011: The February 2011 Christchurch earthquake of 6.3 magnitude and that caused many fatalities in addition to widespread damage instigates major change by Tournament partners for the RWC 2011 matches in New Zealand's South Island. The seven matches that were to be held in Christchurch have now been reallocated to other venues across New Zealand. This will at least affect Argentina, Australia, England, Georgia, Italy, Russia and Scotland teams. The Tournament organisers have tried to keep as many of the matches in the South Island as possible. As a result the three South Island venues of Nelson, Dunedin and Invercargill will each pick up an additional match while the remaining two matches have been reallocated to Wellington and North harbour. The two quarter-finals that were to be played in Christchurch will now take place in the North Island at Eden Park, Auckland.
