Using Our Talents

stephanie cookI’ve just been editing an interview with an Olympic champion.  Stephanie Cook won gold for Great Britain at the 2000 Games in Sydney.  Her event was the modern pentathlon, a gruelling competition featuring five disciplines in one day: shooting, fencing, swimming, show jumping ending with a three kilometre run.

During the interview Stephanie said this: “For me what it comes down to is the fact that I’ve been given certain talents and if what I’m doing is going out and using those talents to the full then that to me is basically for God’s glory.”

You can listen to the interview in this week’s Planet Sport programme.

Passion for Sport exists to introduce sports fans to Jesus through media.  We want to see people who are passionate fans of sport coming know Jesus and becoming his committed followers.

The team at Passion for Sport use the various spiritual and practical gifts they have been given in serving God for his glory.

This summer the team will be at the Olympic Games in Rio, using their professional media skills and experience to help introduce sports fans to Jesus through media.

Genesis 1; 26 tells us that we are made in the image of God.  The whole of the first chapter of Genesis talks about God creating – light, sea, land, plants and so on.  As human beings we are made in God’s image to be creative.

All of us have gifts and talents we can use to introduce people to Jesus.  How are you using yours?
